The Final Blog!! :(

This is it, this is the final blog that will be written. After today, this account may start to gain a little dust. For now, i will write the final blog. I came into this class with no confidence what so ever. I had no idea what to expect and how things were gonna happen. I do admit that things did go really fast, but slowly with time, I began to understand how things were going to work and that started to make things go a little more easier. Now when I look back at this class, i am surprised to say, that i may just miss this class. I gained much confidence in the work we did and started to have a better understanding of what was expected. Things got messy and sometime they got really mellow. I had a lot of fun being in this class. This class really changed how I wrote papers. I never thought i would do so many papers within a semester. The class really changed me as a writer and now I am even more confident. I feel that with what i learned so far, I can do many research papers without having any major problems. The only problem that i remember having in this class with research was finding and citing the research. I still feel i have problems with this, but it has gotten a lot better. Now I'm sitting here writing and maybe crying over this blog. The other thing that i had problems with. It wasn't that the blogs were hard, it was just hard for me to keep the thoughts flowing from my head so that they could make sense in the blog. I will really miss this class and all the skills and experience that i learned will come with me.

Free Write- Weekend Vacation

My weekend was alright. It could have been a whole lot better. The one thing i found out when i got back into town was that i still had my job. For most of the weekend i was working. When Thanksgiving came around i did more sleeping than i did eating food. I was thankful for the whopping 13 hours of sleep i got in one day. Unfortunately, coming back to school feels like that 13 hours was not enough. If I actually got to eat a lot of turkey i would be a lot more happier with my vacation. I did get to spend a lot of time with my family and that made my vacation a lot better than just working all the time.

Q. # 3

The story that I will be applying the question to is "The Dangerous Game". One element that appeared alot was darkness. The way the author described the conditions of the weather on the boat was also very dark. Then how everytime at night during the hunt it explained the thoughts of Rainsford. I think that the name of the island is ironic with Zaroff and how Zaroff got all his human prey. I also noticed that in the beginning Rainsford was looking at prey as having no feelings what so ever. Zaroff did the same thing with the human prey, saying they had no feelings. Rainsford had changed his mind instantly.

Young Goodman Brown

This story was very hard for me to read. From what i read, i think i like the story. I liked how it showed that the Puritans were not all that pure. It showed that many people have sinned and that it was all around. The story had many elements. The staff the man was holding looked like a serpent and the man that was holding it could have been the devil. The ribbon in the hair was supposed to symbolize some kind of purity. Goodman Brown's Wife, Faith, was representing faith in that story. Goodman Brown had walked away from both faith's in the beginning. When he was half way to his destination he had a change of heart and did not want to keep going. Then the ribbon falls out of the sky and makes him go on a rampage. He then goes to what represented hell. Then later he woke up from what seemed like a dream. That makes me wonder if it really was a dream or not. Overall if it was easier to read i probably would have like this story alot.

A rose for Emily

The story "A Rose for Emily" was a very eerie tale. I thought it was disgusting that she kept poor old Homer up in the bed room to rot. I thought that Emily was insane. The towns people were verysketchy because they did not try to intervine with the problems that Emily was going through. It was eerie that the butler didn't run away until after she died. Which lead me to believe that he could have been responsible for her death. I am sure he knew that she killed Homer. I loved how when she was at the store to pick up poison that she didn't need a reason to get it. I thought that this stroy was very weird and that the towns people should have done something after the death of Emily's father

The most dangerous blog

The short story, "The Most Dangerous Game", was a very eerie kind of story. I love how the story started with the main character having a fight with the others that the prey he hunted did not have feelings, yet when he is confronted by Zaroff, he is offended when Zaroff says that humans do not have any feelings. I also liked the overall plot of the story. The very last ending part was a little sketchy. The first time I read this i was surpriesed that Rainford had jumped off the cliff. I hated the need to know information that was left out and Rainsford somehow got inside the mansion with out anyone knowing. The beginning of the story was very catching. They usded a lot of "dark" elements to describe the environment when they were approching Ship Trap Island. I thought it was funny that Rainsford fell of the boat and how no one heard him yelling. Overall I liked this story and thought it had a very nice plot.

Sleepy Hollow

Well...Ischbod Crane was quite the character. He was tall, thin, had a big nose. He had quite the sing song voice. Everyone enjoyed listening to him sing. Then one day he took interstin to Katrina Van Tussel. I was there at her house many time a week until that rat Ischabod showed up. I was disgusted at the school teacher. Then one day Katrina's father sent out invitations to practically the whole town for a get togther at the mansion. During the event the old timers sat togther and discussed the many interesting stories and scares of the time. Then most interesting of these stories was the headless horsemen that chased me till about the bridge that crossed. That aroused my curiosity. Any rivaly against me was to fall and ischabod should be no problem. Me and my gang hassled him all the time. Then that very night, i renacted that very event that i had expreinced. I chased poor Ischabod over the bridge until he he started to get sloppy on his horse riding. I hit him with a pumpkin and he left the town for good.
Thank god for that.  Any more of Ischabod I would have physically gone up to him and hurt him, but the scare tactic worked

Buffy-Halloween

Buffy was and interesting show. I remember hearing it many different places but never really bother to watch it. I am not a big fan of T.V. shows and rarely ever watch them. When we watched the episode "Halloween", in class, I thought that it was alright for a T.V. show. Even for how old it was. I liked the storyline it had and how they added in humor to what seemed like a cheesy horror show in the beginning of the episode. I also liked how they started to add suspense in the end and started to give us a different look at the teacher. They made him look wise in the beginning, then near the end started to make us think differently of the teacher. The fight scene in the beginning was pretty cheesy with the effects, but overall if i had to, i wouldn't mind watching another episode.

My Fav. Book

My favorite book or books I should say was a seris i read back in highschool. The name of the seris was called Pendragon. Out of the 10 book i only read 4 or 5 i think. I like the fiction that is behind all the books. How one kid is supposed to save is territory, or so they call it, by saving all the others from an evil Mastermind named Saint Dane. The name of the main hero is Bobby Pendragon. The book named " The Reality Bug", which is one of the books in the series was my least favorite. In that book Bobby actually loses to Saint Dane. My favorite book out of the 4 or 5 i read in the series would be "The Merchant of Death". This was the first book to start off the series, and i liked how the plot was set up. In the book Bobby learns of things called flumes. These flumes were portals that took travelers, who were people that were able to use flumes, to other territories. Saint Dane is the evil traveler and he is the one that starts to push that certian territory into choas by making a mjor event go wrong. The first book introduced all of what Bobby was going to endure. It was my favortie, so far!

The working Thesis

Thesis: Global Warming is a big issue and the Coral Reefs are going to get hit the worst, first.

For Ethos I can say that if the coral start to bleach then they are dying but have a chance to recover, but at the rate it is now, there is very little hope for that.
For pathos I can use that if these wonderful and colorful organisms of nature die. Many exotic fish and coarl will disappear and people will not be able to view these spectacular organisms.
For Logos I could use that if these coral die, then many people in the States will not have the seafood that the reefs were supplying.

reflection of class

So far the experiences I have had in this class are very good. The papers are making me better at researching and writing then any other paper i have written. I believe I am getting better because of all the different papers that we have to do. I was only used to doing one big research paper in ninth grade and not having to do one again. Up until now, I have learned that research papers can be a favorite thing in a few classes. When I first came to class I was just expecting it to be like any other type of English class. Where the teacher would just give out a reading assignment and some problems out of a book and call it good. I did expect the one or two different essays we would have to write. When we got a few days in that view certainly changed. I found out that we did not have just a few essays but in fact we had a whole list of essays.
I am not the strongest writer and I hope that the constant rep. of writing papers can help make me a bit more succesfull. I also like the experience in class. I enjoy the class on certian days when we have things to do that make us active. Like the day we had the brainstorming ideas. It made not only thinking of topics a little easier but in a way it engaged my mind. The experiences are great and I probably won't forget how to write these papers. Since it is the most we have learned about. Also it is the biggest stuff that we need to complete otherwise...bad grade in the class.

Reflection of narrative

This narritve is the first of all papers that I had to write in college. In a way i feel like i didn't do that great of a job. My paper did have many erros that i had not caught. The setup of the paper was also a little bit different then what was expected. I did not put enough time. As time went on though a lot of those mistakes were fixed and the only issue left by the 2nd draft was that i still did not fix the setup. I still need to so that it can do more explaining about how i changed as a person rather than the events. I guess i thought i had it down but events seemed to story like. Now for my final draft i may have to rewrite all of it so that it can be in a more different form than before. This paper was really different than other papers i have ever wrote since i had to tell how i changed with some major event. I didn't try hard enought and will try even harder on the final draft to put the events on the right track

Lemon-Raid

I watched The word - Lemon-Raid, By Steven Colbert. This was about the Iraqi war and how our invasions were stagged to check out the U.S. funded businesses. This was done to supposedly not let the insurgents know about those businesses. Steve stated that we were raiding Iraq in order to help the busisnesses. Steve was making a joke out of the insurgents and the U.S. His points made were by joking that the war was already won. We were just their to check the businesses. I would have to say he was very successful. Since many people think we are their for no reason, Steve tells them that we are their to protect the U.S. funded buildings from the insurgents so we ate stagging the raids. Steve draws in a crowd that is against the war and makes all the moves look bad, so as a whole he did a good job.

Opinion Blog

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/21/science/earth/21coral.html?ref=science

The article i read was about the coral reefs and how they are becoming damaged by heat stress. Heat stress is caused by the greenhouse gases that get trapped in the atmosphere. The gases in return make the water hotter than normal and cause the coral to bleach. This poese a problem becuse it shows that global warming is now becoming a very real threat. The coral are dying and are an early signal of ecological distress with the build up of green house gasses. I think that a lot of people on this planet don't know what they are doing to this planet. If things like this are goin to happen then why don't people learn to stop and try to fix things. This is just an early signal. What is it going to take for people to start realinzing that they need to pitch in and help get this planet back on the right path. Their are many people that are trying there hardest to get people involved with things like litter control and conserving energy. This article pretty told that if these reefs die then many of the fisheries will go with and leave millions trying to get the fish they love. This planet is the only to sustain life. I don't think it's right to let this planet die and not do anything about it.

narrative topic proposal

The topic that i have picked for my narrative is the passing of my dad. In the beginning of it i will give a little back round as to what lead up to the event. I'm going to tell how he had back problems and needed surgery. He had a few surgeries. The first surgery did not work because the doctor did not diagnose the problem right. After he recovered then he went for another one. That surgery went great. My dad was almost running down the hall after.
Then after i talk about that, i will go into how this event has greatly changed my life and how i had to step up and help my family get throught the tough times. I will talk about how i had to grow up real quick so that i can learn all the things i need to. I will also talk about how i had plenty more responsibilities at home and how my work at school and greatly changed. I went from After school study hall in middle school to honor roll student in high school...

Narrative Brainstormers

Passing away of my father- When horrbile day came of the passing of my dad a switch in my head went off. This switch told me that i would have to be more responsible and that i would have to grow up real quick. My mother was having a hard time raising 2 childeren so i had to start taking responsibilities and help my family succeed. I had this feeling that my dad was their to help me becuase I helped my mother through more than i could ever imagine. It was tough to help my mother with me and my sister but i had plenty of time to develop as an adult and learn what i had to do and how to do it. I could never see a day with out him but ever since then i have definatly grown up.

First Car- When I got my very first car that i was able to drive when ever was when i turned eighteen last march. I had a car but it was my mothers, but this one was special. It was a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse and it gave me a great sense of responsibility. If my mother could get me that car alone meant i had achieved something and now i would have to take care of it. I still have the car and every time i look at it i get the feeling that i have to be responsible here in college. This feeling came out because my mother would never let me out of the house for hours, and after the day she gave me that car it took on a whole new direction. She would trusts me and i can not destroy that.

Joining Marching Band (high school)- When i was in middle school band was just another class to get through. Their was not much we did except play a few notes. Then when i got into high school all that changed. I had to push myself since they were doing things right off the bat that i had no idea how to do. Marching band is my stress reliever and i am glad to have this talent. Playing the trombone has given me a sunny disposition and with that i can get through most anything without feeling like the world is going to end. It gave me the power to do good in school with out the death of my father really making things difficult, since i had this scapegoat to fall back on i went through high school in a breeze. although it still is rough i just turn to my sunny disposition when the going does get tough.

What Defines Me.....

Their are a few things that do define me. The first thing is playing notes out of my trombone. When I was back in high school I remember having a lot of hard classes. Band was how I could get the stress of much of the upcoming day over with and the stress of the previous hours over with as well. I have this very sunny disposition and I thank that all to the talent I have with the trombone.

One of the biggest things that define me would be my mother. When my dad passed away i was only goin into the 8th grade. My middle school career was going horrible and the 8th grade year was even worse. Then when that day came my mother pushed me all the way. She always throttled me to be the best. She would tell me over and over again that i to thirve in my education to make my dad proud. My mother pushed me from middle school disaster all the way up to almost straight A, high school Graduate. Even now when I am old enought to be on my own in college she is always their to love and push me to the limit so I can acheive the high goals I have in life.

These were just a few of the things that define me. As people get to know me, the way I am defined gets reveled slowly because of all that does define me.
